Reflection of Rich McCue Lecture

Rich McCue was the guest lecturer in our EDCI 336 class this week. He spoke to us about the pros of teaching students how to understand and use some basic coding. One of these pros was that students will have a deeper knowledge of how the technology they are using actually works. As well, it can help students develop and practice problem-solving and computational skills.

Rich shared many resources that can be used in the classroom when teaching students about coding. I found many of these resources to be engaging even for myself! Because I have limited knowledge and experience in coding, these resources were even helpful to me. I felt interested and engaged, so I think these would be great ways to introduce my future classroom to coding.

The Anna and Elsa coding tool Rich shared was genuinely a fun and challenging time https://studio.code.org/s/frozen/stage/1/puzzle/1 – before the class I could not see myself incorporating coding into the classroom and now I absolutely can!
