I have been spending a good amount of time thinking about the space I live in, and how I can use it as an outward expression of myself. Of course, as a student renter, I don’t have the ability to make large changes to my space. But I can make small changes, such as buying different furniture, replacing the art I have on the walls, and adding personal touches to the things I already own. As a project this week, I decided to paint over some of the magnets that are on my fridge. I don’t think I’ve ever bought fridge magnets, I’ve just accumulated them from various places or as gifts over time. Some of these magnets included one representing a food delivery app, and another for a local restaurant. These were items I used often but did not exactly like the look of, which inspired me to personalize them. I first painted over them with a few coats of white acrylic paint and then added some color. On one magnet I drew on some rough botanical shapes with a sharpie, and on the other, I glued down some dried flowers from a bouquet my friend recently gave me. This was overall a simple and quick project, but one that added a personal touch to my kitchen. I’m already looking for the next thing in my house that I can spruce up!

Tyla!! This is such a cool idea! And what a cool activity that you could easily and cheaply bring into the classroom! I definitly will need to take a look at my fridge magnets and see what I have that I can paint over!
